After he was released from prison, Vic Lee began his BTCC campaign with taking over Bowman Motorsport and reastarting it as Vic Lee Racing team. After success in National Saloon Car Championship and BTCC Class B with Peugeot 306, Peugeot supported VLR for their 2001 BTCC season campaign. VLR began using 3 406 coupes for Dan Eaves, Steve Soper and Matt Neal, but sponsorship issues led to releasing Neal after only 1 round. The campaign was unsuccessful with best finishes were 2 3rd places from Eaves. After this poor performance Peugeot withdraw their backing for VLR. The team, in 2002 known as Team Hallfords, continued racing with 406. Eaves stayed with the team, while 1992 campion Tim Harvey and Carl Breeze joined the team. Again the campaign was not that the expected. The only podium finish was second place of Eaves at Brands Hatch. After the season the team switched to the Sergio Rinland designed Peugeot 307
